The Power of Patience!
Patience … it’s an easy word to say but damn, if it isn’t hard to practice!
I mean, we can get groceries delivered in an hour, binge-watch entire seasons in a weekend (or a night!), and fire off instant messages across the globe, we’ve been conditioned to expect everything right now. But … leadership, parenting, relationships, and self-growth don’t work that way.
Patience isn’t just about waiting… it’s about how we wait. It’s about staying steady when things don’t go as planned, giving people (and ourselves) room to grow, and resisting the urge to force outcomes before their time.
This week, we tackled the art of patience on Men Talking Mindfulness, breaking down why it’s one of the most underrated skills in leadership, relationships, and personal well-being. Check it out here: https://pod.fo/e/2aab8a.
Why Patience is a Leadership Superpower
Patience Creates Space for Growth Whether you’re leading a team, raising kids, or building a relationship, patience allows people to develop without unnecessary pressure. When you resist the urge to micromanage, control, or rush the process, you create an environment where real progress can happen.
Patience Reduces Stress (for You and Everyone Around You) Ever snap at someone because they weren’t “getting it” fast enough? Yeah, we’ve all been there (insert image of me getting upset at my son for not grasping snow skiing fast enough - not my best dad performance!). But impatience doesn’t speed things up… it just adds frustration. Patience, on the other hand, creates calm and clarity, making it easier for everyone to operate at their best.
Patience Leads to Better Decisions Quick decisions aren’t always the best decisions. Giving yourself a little space - whether it’s waiting 24 hours before firing off an angry email or stepping back before making a big business move -keeps emotions from driving your choices.
