Your Thursday Three Things for April 17, 2025
Reclaiming What We've Lost (Wild at Heart with John Eldredge)
Brought to you by Jon Macaskill of Frogman Mindfulness and Will Schneider — together, we are Men Talking Mindfulness.
Last week, we talked about men leading from the heart.
This week… we’re going even deeper.
We’re talking soul-deep.
You ever look around and feel like you’re doing life, but not living it? Like you’re checking all the boxes but still carrying this low-grade ache in your chest… a quiet whisper asking:
“Is this it?”
Most of us don’t lose our soul all at once.
It’s more of a slow drift.
One compromise here.
One buried emotion there.
One day at a time spent becoming someone the world told us to be.
This week on Men Talking Mindfulness, we had the privilege of sitting down with John Eldredge, best-selling author of Wild at Heart and one of the most influential voices in modern masculinity. John has spent decades helping men reclaim what they’ve lost … not by becoming something new, but by returning to who they’ve always been at their core.
A man with a battle to fight.
An adventure to live.
A beauty to rescue.
These three longings live inside every man… but too often, they get buried beneath expectations, wounds, or a life that’s lost its sense of wonder.
We talked to John about how to wake back up… how to reclaim your soul… and what starts to shift when a man lives from that deep, grounded place inside.
We also talked about the pain — the father wound, the shame, the fear of never being enough. It was real, honest, and raw. And it might be one of the most important conversations we’ve ever had.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re stuck in a version of life that isn’t quite you or like you’ve lost something essential along the way, this episode is for you.

Your Three Things
Tools to help you begin the journey of reclamation.
1. Book: Wild at Heart by John Eldredge
If you haven’t read it yet, start here. If you have, read it again. This is not just a book, it’s a mirror. One that reflects back the wild, wholehearted man buried underneath all the layers of performance.
2. Practice: Cold Exposure (and doing something hard every day)
You don’t have to climb a mountain to reclaim your soul, but you do need to feel alive. One of the simplest ways to reconnect with your primal core is cold exposure. Ice bath. Cold shower. A barefoot walk in the snow. Anything that snaps you out of comfort and back into presence. Do it daily. Do it on purpose.
3. Book: Iron John by Robert Bly
A poetic, mythic exploration of the journey from boyhood to manhood. It’s not a light read, but it’s a deeply necessary one for men looking to reconnect with the parts of themselves that got lost along the way. Read it slowly. Let it sink in.
P.S.
We’re kicking off a live, virtual mindfulness and meditation course on Sunday, April 27th, hosted by the two of us — Jon and Will — as part of Men Talking Mindfulness.
If you’re ready to reconnect with yourself, train your mind, and rediscover a sense of peace and power… join us.

Closing Thoughts
We’re not saying life gets easy when you reclaim your soul.
But it does get clear.
True.
And deeply worth living.
Your heart knows the way back.
Let’s stop pretending we don’t hear it.
We’re with you,
— Jon & Will
Men Talking Mindfulness
P.S. We’ve never been about quick fixes.
From the beginning, Men Talking Mindfulness has been about doing the work… having the real conversations… building a life that’s grounded, resilient, and true to who you are.
We’ve talked openly about breathwork, meditation, mental health, masculinity, vulnerability, grief, and growth. We’ve shared the messy, beautiful, challenging parts of being human… and we’ve heard from so many of you who are walking your own path toward becoming a happier, healthier version of yourself.
That’s what we care about: giving people real tools to feel better, think clearer, and live more fully.
So when we came across Neurish, it wasn’t a business opportunity. It was a values alignment.
Neurish is a clean, effective health drink designed to support brain health, focus, and overall well-being. It’s packed with nutrients that actually work… and it’s made by people who actually care.
No hype. No B.S. Just a thoughtful formula to support your mind and body.
We tried it. We liked it. We felt the difference. And more importantly… we trusted the mission behind it.
So we teamed up.
This isn’t about selling drinks… it’s about expanding our toolkit. Mindfulness, breath, movement, community… and now, Neurish. One more piece to support you in the work you’re already doing.
