Opened the laptop this morning for the first time since Friday and just sat there. 200-some emails and a calendar stacked wall to wall before 8am. My whole body did the thing where it clenches and speeds up at the same time, like I’d been shoved out of a hammock straight into rush-hour traffic.
That jolt is real for all of us. You spent the long weekend in a slower gear. That was the whole point. Then Tuesday lands and the world expects you back at full speed with no on-ramp. Your nervous system was never built for instant. Floored from zero to full throttle, it hands you whiplash.
So today’s reset is an on-ramp, built on purpose, before you merge. Before you open a single thing, take 4 quiet minutes. Feet on the floor, a few long breaths out, and name the two things that matter most today. Just two. Then open the inbox already knowing what you’re hunting for, before 200 strangers set your agenda in the first 10 minutes of the week.
Respond instead of react. The re-entry will yank you if you let it, and a short on-ramp is how you merge into the week as the driver instead of the cargo.
I fell for it myself this morning. Dove straight into the flood and answered emails for 40 minutes before I’d decided a single priority. Caught it, shut the laptop, took my own 4 minutes, started the day over.
Build the on-ramp, then merge on purpose.
So before you floor it into this short week, what are the two things that deserve you most today?
If this morning showed you how fast you get yanked out of the driver’s seat, that gap between what hits you and how you respond is exactly what our Awareness to Action course trains you to hold.
