Your Three Things Thursday
Three Things Thursday!
(The Intersection of Leadership and Wellness!)
This is what people WILL remember about you!!
Welcome to this week’s edition of Three Things Thursday where I unpack the insights you need for effective leadership and wellness!
Now…
If you happen to be a leader or a manager (of anything at all),
The harsh truth is...
When you are gone from that position,
Folks won't remember:
➺ The awards you won
➺ The deals you landed
➺ The targets you smashed
What they're actually gonna remember is:
➺ The time you ghosted their calls.
➺ The time you ignored their complaints.
➺ The time you yelled at them out of frustration.
Now,
You may not have done any of those things on purpose,
But the truth is:
Many leaders and professionals are really struggling to stay afloat as it is.
Because when you have a LOT on your plate, chances are...
➺ You're not mindful of what's in front of you.
➺ You're wondering whether the last meeting went well
➺ Or whether you will catch up with the next one before it ends.
You are never IN the moment.
And it's causing you severe burnout.
So your mind cries out.
Because it looks like it is running out of capacity to handle the stress.
But the truth is:
➺ You don't need less stress.
➺ You need more 'mind' capacity.
Because the stress will ALWAYS be there to loom around you like a shadow.
And believe me,
The same way people do push-ups to expand their muscles at the gym
You can also do push-ups for your mind.
➺ So instead of letting those career demands break you down.
➺ Train your mind to stay in one moment at a time—the present.
Don't let worries of the past or the future occupy that space!
Because that's how they drain you out.
Three Things for Thursday
Now, here are my three curated recommendations to enhance your leadership through wellness:
Book Recommendation: The Art of Alignment by Patty Beach
This book will offer you pragmatic, thought-provoking, and useful leadership advice, including real-life stories and proven principles. It explains how to introduce new ideas, gain agreement from any group, and realign a team when things go wrong.
Movie Recommendation: The Pursuit of ‘Happyness’
Starring Will Smith, this movie tells the true story of Chris Gardner, a struggling salesman who takes custody of his son as he embarks on a life-changing journey to pursue a better future. The movie highlights Gardner's resilience, determination, and ability to maintain a positive mindset even in the face of extreme challenges.
App Recommendation: Calm
Calm has been instrumental in my journey toward mindful leadership, helping me develop self-awareness, managing stress, and sharpening my focus. Their guided meditations and relaxation techniques have helped me maintain my emotional intelligence and resilience too! (Complete transparency, I work for Calm!)
As we conclude this edition of "Three Things Thursday," keep in mind that the path to becoming a better leader is continuous and deeply personal.
Prioritizing your well-being isn't just about self-care; it's a strategic step toward becoming a more empathetic, resilient, and influential leader.
Train hard, breathe easy.
