Hey everyone,

Jon Macaskill here, back with your weekly dose of wellness and leadership tips. This week, I’m talking about a topic that’s as important for leaders as it is for anyone—longevity. But let’s be clear, longevity isn’t just about adding more years to your life; it’s about making sure those extra years are full of energy, purpose, and vitality. In fact, focusing on longevity not only improves your personal well-being but also makes you a better leader.

Longevity: Adding Life to Your Years

So, what does longevity have to do with leadership? Well, think about it—if you’re burning the candle at both ends, constantly stressed out, and not prioritizing your health, how well are you really leading? If you want to show up as your best self for your team, your family, and your community, you need to be around and well for the long haul.

Prioritizing the things that promote longevity—like exercise, good sleep, stress management, and healthy eating—doesn’t just add years to your life; it adds quality to those years. As leaders, we need that longevity, not just to keep doing the work we love, but to do it with the kind of energy, clarity, and enthusiasm that inspires others.

Here’s how focusing on longevity can make you a better leader:

  1. Sustained Energy: When you invest in your health, you get more energy to lead, make decisions, and support your team.

  2. Mental Clarity: Healthy habits like regular exercise and mindfulness don’t just help you live longer; they keep your mind sharp, which means better decision-making and problem-solving at work.

  3. Leading by Example: Prioritizing your own longevity shows your team that it’s okay to focus on their health too. You set the tone for a culture of wellness and sustainability.

Now, let’s get into this week’s three things that can help you on your longevity journey:
