25 Years ago today. Some of you reading this weren't alive. My children weren't alive. I was essentially a child myself ... only 24 years old.
I took my son to visit NYC last year and we visited the 9/11 Memorial. He was 6. Before we went, I showed him this picture and explained what we were going to see.
He stared at the picture for a few minutes. I thought my words fell flat. That he was wanting to be somewhere else doing something else.
Then he looked up at me with huge crocodile tears welling up in his eyes and said, "Can I cry?" We both cried together. Simultaneously, for the same reasons and for different ones.
Whether we were alive for this or not, it is always something we should remember. And yes, it's ok to cry.
Never forget. God bless the all the souls we lost that day and the souls of those we lost in the wars that this started.
